Within the welding industry, there is an aging workforce with many skilled welders who have been practising their vocation for years retiring. This is compounded by the fact there are fewer younger welders entering the workforce to take their places. Learn to Weld recognised this national shortage and have made it their mission to provide the solution to this problem.
Initial Case
A government funded agency approached their training partner Weldability Sif to deliver a bespoke vocational skills training program to with the aim to encourage workers into employment and fill this skills gap.
Solution
Andy Thomas, Training Portfolio Manager, met with the government funded agency to design a specialised training programme to meet their requirements. The course and teaching has been heralded as excellent and of a very high standard, resulting in very positive feedback from clients with many students achieving their qualification and moving into employment. An employer advisor from one such organisation reported that “Andy has been very supportive of the learners and has been able to meet individuals’ needs encouraging and supporting them through the course”. This is why businesses choose Weldability Sif every time to deliver their training programmes.
Next Phase
To help achieve their ambitious goal, Weldability Sif will also work and partner with other training centres and colleges to better reach potential welders from every corner of the UK.
Learn to Weld is a division of Weldability Sif consisting of a team of dedicated, experienced, qualified welders and industry professionals providing welder training courses. The Technology & Training Centre houses a large modern practical training workshop complete with twelve fully-equipped welding bays forming part of a welding process centre allowing industrial users to conduct development trials and carry out welder training and testing.
As well as the workshop, the centre has multiple classrooms including a highly impressive eLearning suite and fully-immersive virtual welding studio providing a complete ‘Virtual Learning Environment’ allowing students to gain an understanding of the practicalities of the trade before entering a live workshop.
