SIF Gas-Shielded Flux-Cored Wires
Gas shielded flux cored wire is ideal for high-productivity fabrication where excellent weld quality, high deposition rates and strong mechanical properties are required.
Gas shielded flux cored wire often provides higher deposition rates, improved productivity, excellent positional welding characteristics and reliable mechanical properties, making it a popular choice for industrial fabrication.
The correct wire depends on the parent material, welding position, required mechanical properties and the shielding gas available.
The recommended shielding gas depends on the wire classification and application. Always use the gas specified by the wire manufacturer to achieve optimum welding performance.
Gas shielded flux cored wire is widely used in structural steel fabrication, bridge construction, shipbuilding, heavy engineering, offshore fabrication, pressure vessel manufacture and industrial manufacturing.
Many gas shielded flux cored wires are designed for all-position welding, although this depends on the wire classification and manufacturer's recommendations.
Excessive slag is often caused by incorrect welding parameters, travel angle, technique or selecting the wrong wire for the application.
Porosity is commonly caused by inadequate shielding gas coverage, contamination, moisture or incorrect welding parameters.
Store the wire in a clean, dry environment and keep it sealed in its original packaging until required. Proper storage helps protect the flux from moisture and maintains consistent welding performance.
Before selecting a gas shielded flux cored wire, identify: What material am I welding? What mechanical properties are required? What welding position will be used? What shielding gas is available? Is productivity the main priority? Answering these questions will help you select the most suitable gas shielded flux cored wire for your application.
