SIFMIG ZERO is a double-deoxidised mild steel MIG wire, classification SG3 (copper free), free from copper coating with increased silicon and manganese content, for welding unalloyed and low-alloyed mild and medium-tensile steels requiring good impact toughness down to -20C. Manufactured with a high-quality uncoppered finish for improved feeding and conductivity, it typically provides a higher ultimate tensile strength than standard SIFMIG SG2, and the absence of copper on the wire surface gives a cleaner deposit while avoiding the metallurgical risks of increased copper in the weld pool.

SIFMIG ZERO SG3 1.2MM 250KG CU-FREE
For most general fabrication, SG2 is the standard choice. If you're welding material with light mill scale or require improved deoxidising characteristics and mechanical properties, SG3 may be the better option.
SG3 contains higher levels of deoxidising elements than SG2, making it better suited to steels with light surface contamination and helping produce sound welds in more demanding conditions.
Choose SG3 when welding steels with light rust or mill scale, where improved weld quality or higher mechanical properties are required.
The correct wire diameter depends on the thickness of the material, welding current and the welding position. Smaller diameters are generally used on thinner materials, while larger diameters are suited to heavier fabrication.
Argon and carbon dioxide mixed gases are commonly used for mild steel MIG welding, providing a stable arc, lower spatter levels and good weld appearance.
Common causes include incorrect voltage or wire feed speed, poor shielding gas selection, contaminated material or using the wrong welding parameters.
Porosity is usually caused by inadequate shielding gas coverage, contamination, moisture or poor welding technique.
Store wire in a clean, dry environment and keep it in its original packaging until required to minimise corrosion and contamination.
Mild steel MIG wire is widely used in fabrication, automotive manufacturing and repair, structural steelwork, agriculture, construction and general engineering.
Before selecting a mild steel MIG wire, identify: the grade of steel being welded, the material thickness, whether the steel is clean or has mill scale, the required mechanical properties, and the shielding gas being used.
