The black pad is pre-treated with Lube-Matic lubricant and is recommended for use on mild-steel and fabricated wire only.

Black MIG Wire Cleaning Pad — Mild Steel
They clean and lubricate MIG wire as it passes through the wire feeder, improving wire feed and extending the life of the contact tip and liner.
The black pad cleans and lubricates mild steels only, and is recommended for mild-steel and fabricated wires. For aluminium or stainless, use the untreated red Wire-Kleener pads instead.
They are supplied in a pack of six.
Yes. The black pads are pre-treated with Lube-Matic lubricant, so they clean and lubricate the wire in one pass.
By cleaning and lubricating the wire they reduce burn-backs and arcing that usually result from liner and tip jamming, which also helps maintain consistent wire feed.
