3.2mm SIFTIG 2594 Stainless Steel TIG Rod 2.5kg
The correct filler rod depends on the grade of stainless steel being welded, the service environment and the properties required from the finished weld. In most cases, the filler rod should match the parent material.
308L is typically used for welding 304 stainless steel, while 316L is designed for 316 stainless steel where improved corrosion resistance is required, particularly in marine, food processing and chemical environments.
Choose 316L when welding 316 stainless steel or where increased resistance to chlorides, chemicals and corrosion is required.
309L is commonly used when welding stainless steel to mild steel, joining dissimilar stainless steels or as a buffer layer before hardfacing or repair welding.
In most applications, yes. Matching the filler rod helps maintain corrosion resistance, weld strength and the mechanical properties of the finished joint. However, specialist applications may require an alternative filler rod.
Discolouration is usually caused by excessive heat input, poor shielding gas coverage or inadequate back purging. Excessive heat tint can reduce corrosion resistance if it isn't removed.
Loss of corrosion resistance can result from incorrect filler rod selection, excessive heat input, poor shielding or contamination during welding.
Stainless steel TIG filler rods are widely used in food processing, pharmaceutical manufacturing, petrochemical, marine, architectural fabrication, pressure vessels and precision engineering.
Store filler rods in a clean, dry environment and protect them from moisture, oil and contamination to preserve weld quality and corrosion performance.

Will the weld require back purging? What service environment will the component operate in?
