What's one thing that surprises customers during an LEV test?
Nathan — The Guy Who Fixes It One of the most common issues we find on older extraction systems, especially those installed 10 to 20 years ago, is the exhaust stack. Many of these systems still have rain caps fitted, but these are no longer recommended because they can restrict airflow and cause contaminated air to be deflected back down instead of being discharged safely.

Hey there, everyone. Nathan from Extractability here. Another question: What's one thing that surprises customers during an LEV test?
One of the things that often comes up on older systems that were installed 10 or 20 years ago is the exhaust stack on fixed extraction systems, whether they're for laser, welding, or anything else with an exhaust stack up the side of the building. It can't have a rain cap anymore. It needs some form of low-resistance weather protection that doesn't allow rain in but also doesn't cause the fumes to hit the top and come back down.
It needs to allow the fumes to go straight up and out. Basically, a low-resistance exhaust cap or a jet cap is what's required, and that's something that catches a lot of people out with older systems.
