What's the biggest mistake you see people make when MIG welding?

Learners drift up and down, giving an inconsistent arc and uneven weld width; resting the neck of the torch between thumb and forefinger and running the side of your hand along the edge of the bench keeps it steady.

So, what's the most common issue with people learning to MIG weld? I find it's probably the contact tip to work distance. So, how far the torch is away from what you're welding.
Learners tend to move up and down, giving an inconsistent arc, different weld widths, etc. The easiest way I found to overcome this is if you rest the neck of the torch in between your thumb and your forefinger, place the welded joint parallel to the edge of your bench, and then putting the side of your hand on the edge of the bench. Use that as a guide, and you'll get a much more consistent weld.
